Al-Thiqa meaning
Al-Thiqa is a non-governmental organization that seeks non-profit purposes. It has branch offices in the provinces of Iraq that provide financial services to small business owners. Al-Thiqa offers a dual task of providing capital for small enterprises and promoting national economic development. Since 2004, confidence has been extended to lending to many citizens, while formal financial institutions have considered it an unacceptable risk or in areas where funding is not available. Al-Thiqa supports Iraq's economic development by offering lucrative business loans to its owners and seeks to demonstrate the business model of business management that will boost the microcredit and microenterprise industry in Iraq.
Al-Thiqa History
In January 2004, the Al-Thiqa for Microfinance, an organization based on a decentralized system was established with the head office in Kirkuk, which provides administrative services, follow-up, capital and operational expenses of the branch offices, which in turn provide credit and follow-up services, .
Currently, there are eight branch offices in Iraq: Kirkuk (head office), Mosul in (Al Hamdaniya and Baqiqa), Baghdad (Karrada), Baquba (Diyala), Sulaymaniyah (Duhok and Amadiyah governorate), Khanqin (Khanaqin and Klar district).
